What to Expect :
The sacred Acropolis Hill dominated ancient Athens and even today it looks a monumental sight. On the walk up to the top, your guide will keep everyone engaged with stories of the different ancient gods and Greek myths associated with the Acropolis. Percy Jackson fans may already know of Athena and Poseidon, but there are also many others associated with this archaeological site.
On arriving at the top of the Acropolis Hill, our guide will then start to explain about the different structures and their importance. They will also engage the kids in fascinating conversations so that the tour becomes a fun learning experience as well!
When you have taken all the photos of the Parthenon, Acropolis, and views out over Athens you desire, your guide will lead you back down the hill once more. Your next destination will be the Acropolis Museum. This modern museum is often thought to be one of the best in Greece, and the kids will love the way our guide weaves together explaining the most significant artifacts.
Depending on the time of day and how hungry everyone is when leaving the Acropolis Museum, there are many choices for lunch. After everyone has eaten and rested, the day continues on to Cape Sounion.
With the sun finally setting, you are heading to the Temple of Poseidon (a temple dedicated to Percy’s father). You will see how the temple changes color in the light whilst the sun slowly disappears. The sunset from the Temple of Poseidon is truly spectacular, and your family will appreciate the magic of the location as much as the ancient Greeks surely did. After the sunset has finished, we’ll leave the Temple of Poseidon behind us, and drive to Athens where you will be taken back to your hotel.
