Itinerary:
Highlights of Athens, Cape Sounion, and Temple of Poseidon
On the first day you will be visiting the mythological highlights of Athens along with the Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion. Our family friendly guide will meet you and lead you on to the first port of call, which is the Acropolis Hill.
On the walk up to the Acropolis you will soon discover that there is a fun day ahead thanks to our guide. Used to working with kids of all ages, they will help make the tour exciting and enjoyable for everyone. Explaining what the Acropolis was for and weaving together tales from Greek mythology, you will make your way to the top of the Acropolis Hill where glorious views out over Athens await.
From here our guide will point out the main features of this incredible UNESCO World Heritage site such as the Parthenon. They will fully explain its history and also include a few interactive games and quizzes for the kids. Once the site has been fully explored and you have taken all the photos you need, you will then begin to make your way back down the hill, and onto the next destination, which is the Acropolis Museum.
If you have concerns that your kids might not be interested in the Acropolis Museum let us put your minds at ease. This is one of the most modern museums in Athens, and in addition, our guide will help bring the place to life by explaining the story and history behind the artifacts that have been found at the Acropolis. Your kids will have a greater insight into ancient Greece, whilst you too also enjoy being shown around There will be a couple of quizzes and games which the kids can enjoy whilst walking around the museum, and you will also discover that the famous Greek statues were not simply plain white after all!
Our final destination for the day is the magnificent Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion. If your kids are Percy Jackson fans, they will know that Poseidon was the father of Percy Jackson & the Greek God of the Sea. This temple dates back several thousand years, and is thought to form part of a sacred triangle. The points of this triangle are made up of the Temple of Poseidon, the Parthenon, and another temple on a nearby Greek island. The Sounio trip is led by a professional English-speaking driver and you will have plenty of time and flexibility to enjoy the Athenian riviera, incredible views along the coastline and even swimming or a visit to Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center!
When the sun begins to set, you can find yourselves a nice quiet spot and watch the sun slowly sinking into the sea. The sunset at Cape Sounion feels very special, and it is easy to see why the ancient Greeks thought that this spot was so special. When the sun has at last disappeared, it will then be time to return to Athens, where you will be taken back to your hotel. It’s been a fun, full day, and there is more to come tomorrow!

Visit the Oracle at Delphi
You will be visiting your second UNESCO World Heritage site in Greece on day 2 of your Greek mythology tour when you go to the Oracle at Delphi. This was one of the most important centers of the ancient Greek world and they often described it as the navel of the world.
You will be collected from your hotel when you have finished breakfast and then be driven to Delphi which is about two and a half hours away. Here you will spend the day exploring the sites and the excellent museum in the company of an experienced kid-friendly guide.
As our guide leads you around the site, you will discover that people used to travel from hundreds of miles away to hear the prophecies of the Oracle at Delphi. This is because before such important matters as war, new colonies, or political decisions were made, the Oracle was often consulted. Our guide will explain this along with many of the Greek myths connected with the Oracle and the site itself. If your kids are Percy Jackson fans they will know that the Oracle made several appearances through the Rick Riordan books. Now, they will understand that the Oracle was an important figure for ancient Greeks.
The site itself includes a stadium, several temples, and other archaeological remains. It is also set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and some people claim they can still feel the magic in the air today! When your time at the archaeological site of Delphi has come to an end, it will be time to head back to Athens once more. There will be plenty to talk about in the vehicle on the way back, and we’re sure your kids will have loved every minute they spent at Delphi!

Corinth Canal, Epidaurus and Nafplion
There are more UNESCO World Heritage sites to come on day 3 of your family Greek mythology tour. Today we visit the site of Epidaurus and finish in the beautiful town of Nafplion for lunch and a walking tour.
You will be collected from your hotel by private vehicle, and then start the drive towards the Peloponnese region of Greece. About an hour out of Athens, we will stop off at the Corinth canal. This is an incredible feat of architectural skill and is a good place to take photos. After stretching your legs, you will then carry on to the first destination which is the archaeological site of Epidaurus.
Epidaurus is a large archaeological complex with two main features. The first of these is the theater which has incredible acoustics. The second is the Asklepios healing sanctuary. If your kids are fans of Percy Jackson, they may know that Asklepios was the God of healing from the Rick Riordan book ‘The Blood of Olympus’.
Our family-friendly guide will show you around the site, and demonstrate the acoustics in the theater. Even to this day, people are not quite sure how the ancient Greeks designed and built the theater so that the acoustics are so perfect. When somebody is standing on the center stage, it is possible to hear them whispering even if you are sitting in the very high seats above. If anyone in the family happens to have a great singing voice, there is no better place to show their talent than the theater at Epidaurus! As with all our family mythology tours in Greece, our guide will mix together explaining the function of the site with tales from mythology, and plenty of interactivity to keep the kids engaged!
Our final destination of the day is the town of Nafplion. This is often described as one of the most beautiful towns in Greece, and it is easy to see why. Walking through the narrow streets where colorful flowers, outdoor cafes and a laid-back atmosphere prevail, there are plenty of opportunities for some memorable photos. Our guide will show you some hidden gems, the main attractions, and also take you to where the best ice cream in town can be had! She will also make suggestions for the best local tavern for a delicious lunch! Finally, when your time in Nafplion has come to an end, we will drive back to Athens where you be taken back to your hotel.
